– Pauline Oliveros is arguably one of the most influential figures of late twentieth-century art music, yet she often remains absent in historiography. This paper argues recent directions in the study of culture (especially in relation to improvisation and creativty) open up new frameworks in which we can appreciate Oliveros’s work and legacy.
